This easy-to-prepare beverage is packed with nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Usually containing various fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs, yoghurt and spices, a smoothie can go a long way in helping you detox. Some of the great benefits of adding a smoothie to your daily diet may include weight loss, increased energy levels and maintaining your overall health.

Here are a few smoothie recipes to help kick start your day. To make these recipes, simply blend all the ingredients together until smooth. Keep in mind that different smoothie recipes are for different times of the day – breakfast, lunch or supper.

The Green Drink – high-fiber, low-calorie breakfast drink.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups spinach
  • ½ cucumber
  • ¼ head of celery
  • A small handful of parsley
  • A handful of mint
  • 3 carrots
  • 2 apples
  • ¼ orange
  • ¼ lime
  • ¼ lemon
  • ¼ pineapple

 

Breakfast Detox Smoothie – eliminates harmful toxins, restoring your system and revitalising your body.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon flax seed
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 banana
  • ¼ cup spinach
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice

 

Green Tea Smoothie – guaranteed to kick start your metabolism.

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • ½ large honeydew melon, cut into chunks
  • ¾ cup strong brewed green tea
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • ¼ cup almond milk

 

Banana oat smoothie – supports healthy digestion

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup oats
  • ½ cup plain low-fat yogurt
  • 1 banana, cut into thirds
  • ½ cup fat-free yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
